We are looking for someone with experience in Microsoft SCOM, SolarWinds Orion.
Please note in the skills matrix that for some reason we shall not accept the deletion of the desired skill of 3 years' experience in Genetic Security and replacing it with the desired skill of 2 years' experience in Microsoft SCOM. Nor will it also not accept the addition of the desired skill of 2 years' experience in SolarWinds Orion.
The person in this position is responsible for providing technical support, assisting in the planning and deployment of hardware rollouts, conducting maintenance, and maintaining and integrating IED local and wide area network infrastructure as needed. This position will require an individual with advanced level communications, technical, and project management skills. A solid background and a proven track record in routing, switching, and Cisco-based firewalls is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the highest level of network support and provides input on planning and the long-term vision for the delivery center’s network and security infrastructure.
Installs, configures, maintains, monitors and manages IED’s network infrastructure, consisting of primarily Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and associated hardware and software.
Performs Network Management functions utilizing various industry tools to monitor, test, verify, troubleshoot and resolve complex Delivery Center network problems by working with users, service providers and others to resolve problems.
Assists in the documentation of the overall architecture of IED LAN/WAN networks:
• Network bandwidth analysis and capacity planning, routers and switches.
• Reviews and provides detailed specifications and schematic engineering drawings/ Visio for network enhancements and modifications.
• Ability to create Visio diagrams of the network for documenting new and existing network elements.
Proactively identifies and troubleshoots issues related to highly complex network problems working them to resolution, including communication of progress to managers.
Performs the maintenance of Cisco routers, switches and firewalls on the IED network.
Works to design and Install highly complex networks as well as develops techniques to optimize the network for maximum efficiency.
Evaluates current and future network needs and prepares recommended technical solutions.
Investigates, evaluates, and makes recommendations on new and emerging technologies.
Leads and provides technical and guidance to Delivery Center projects as needed.
Assists with business partner connections between the business community, the Office of Administration, and the Delivery Center.
Strong knowledge of Windows products including Windows Server and Windows workstation operating systems, personal computer software setup and installation, PC connectivity products, and PC hardware connectivity.
Reviews the development of configuration standards.
Provides technical assistance to develop RFPs, RFQs, and other specification documents to acquire hardware, software and/or IT Services.
Develops documentation for configuration of all network components including setup, installation, and overall deployment of all network hardware and software.
Ensures that all existing and new networks meet or exceed the requirements set forth by the Office of Administrations ITPs.
Actively monitors the IED network using standard tools, such as Microsoft SCOM and Orion Solarwinds.
Verifies renewal of maintenance contracts for network related hardware as needed.
Participates in trouble ticket resolution and reporting.
Supports the wireless network offerings across the delivery center.
Supports remote IT staff with complex network-related issues.
Supports central office staff with network related issues to assist in the troubleshooting of delivery center applications.
Communicates both verbally and in writing with other employees and vendors.
Performs other duties as required.
DECISION MAKING:
Plans the work and assigns work to subordinates in terms of goals and objectives, discussions with employees and supervisors are held to review the status of assignments. Overall performance of the network team and availability/performance of the network and customer satisfaction are factors used to determine level of success.
